I work at a CompUSA, and on the way home after work tonight I had an idea...

Why not compile a binder with printouts of reviews for Apple's computers, along with Consumer reports graphs (Applecare being best service, for example), benchmarks, and so on, and leave it in the Appleshop, for customers to flip through while browsing.

So, I'm looking for said article reccomendations to print out.

Anyone have any ideas?

Would you be allowed to do such a thing? I'm assuming someone would object.

I fail to see how informing customers about a product, and by that token, perhaps prompting them to purchase a product we sell is a bad thing.

It's one thing to verbally lean a customer in one direction, but to publish an entire binder of why Macs are better is totally different (in my opinion).

Besides, if Apple like the idea they'd have one of these binders in every Apple Store (which they don't), and if CompUSA liked the idea, they'd make their own binders for the Mac.

Also, I'm assuming the majority of CompUSA's customers are PC users, and I'm sure the store supervisor or owner would not appreciate upsetting those customers.

It was just my thought to check with your supervisor to make sure it is OK, before you go to a lot of work for nothing.

Well, the biggest problem about selling Apple products is it's just me saying it's good. I'm one person. Why should they believe some guy at a computer store. I thought maybe if I had a binder with some actual product reviews and backup the customer would feel more at ease when making a purchase.

Could seem seriously pushy/biased though. Don't want your computer buying experience to turn into a used car buying experience. I'd be more likely to buy a Mac from someone that made sure an Apple was right for me (kind of like the Apple store does, only actually unbiased).

Well the biggest problem is that nobody seems to know that Apple even exists, so I was thinking that some accolades would get them more interested.

The best way to get them interested is just by telling them. After all, you'd still have to tell them to go look at the binder (which would just bore them). It's easier just to speak from your own experience - that will beat facts and figures any day.
