Wi Fi Bluetooth Keyboard Issue :(

I just bought a $107 (au) wireless keyboard for my 24 inch 3.06 GHZ last gen iMac and upon installing it the Wi-Fi has been dropping out randomly.

I checked bluetooth update and software update and it is all up to date.....


What do i do???!!!!

It is so upsetting and annoying.

It sounds like your getting too much wireless interference. Try changing the channels on your router to less used ones. Also if you have any wireless phones or other wireless devices near the computer that you can move away try to do that. Also microwaves can cause dropped signals.

Use the Gigabit Ethernet wire maybe.

Still Problems

So i ring up Applecare and i was 4 days over my 90 day free phone support - they said that i was an exception and they wouldn't charge me $50 ... yay!


Anyways they are sending out a new keyboard (a wired one that also had an issue). (F15 key jammed).

They sent me an email link for a bluetooth firmware update - i installed it and later during the night it started playing up again - WORSE this time.


So anyways i have to ring up again and ask for help ..... i can only think of:

(1) clean install
(2) return iMac

I was impressed with their applecare phone support (where i didn't have to pay!) and the new keyboard!


Now just this bluetooth / wifi issue!!!!

Bluetooth and wifi both operate at 2.4GHz. This is not a hardware failure.

You need to change your wifi to 5GHz (won't allow any wireless g devices to connect), buy a simultaneous dual band router, use a wired keyboard, or use Ethernet for the iMac's internet.

Take that as your cue... you still have time to buy Apple care that will last you for 2.5+ more years.

It hasn't played up at all today .... it's hard to diagnose the issue over the phone if i don't have the issue itself occurring in front or me.....

I will buy Applecare.
