wow thats an interesting solution to source...
Hmmm, more details would help (including are you looking to DIY or want a turnkey solution)
For the pleasure of discovery, if the scenario is: you have a compressor running in a workshop/out bldging and you want an 'alert' once it stops (or starts) in an automated system (Nest, etc) you already have setup—Maybe look to
sound, motion sensors or cams that can be linked to (for the sake of illustration) HomeKit. You would need to have wifi in the remote location and have that either linked to your home network or the internet. Homekit can do this.
- setup an 'automation' in Home that alerts to motion or sound (OR the lack there of). I use this type for "lighting automation" upon returning home at night.
- Maybe look to security sensors like window or door. They could be configured to be mounted on/near the vibration source to alert once motion is started or stopped.
- Use a Blink cam as a device to automatically notify you upon motion (or lack there of)
There are many ways to skin the cat, but without details it's hard to point to a specific creative solution. I would imagine there are accessories in the HomeKit ecosystem that would work with your current setup.
