I Have just bought an iPhone 6s Plus but my wifi for using on the internet, however seems that sometimes the connection is dropped and iphone automatically then connects with 3g, therefore I then get charged - has cost me loads this week

how do I switch the data servicing settings so It can only connect through wifi when available? Also I want just to make sure this wont have any effect on texting & normal calls. Thanks in advance for confirmation of this & any additional info

When wifi is available it will use that. If it's not connecting or dropping the connection then there's likely something with that wifi network.

if you know how to mess with your wifi settings set it to 802.11n mode if it's not already and see if that helps

You can always put the phone in airplane mode and then enable WiFi.

That will not allow voice calls either. Op you need to go to Settings/Mobile data/ and switch it off. You will then be able to have voice calls and wifi only for data.
