hi all new on here so go easy please :)

we got our daugter an ipod touch for xmas 2015, no issues with it apart from when she is connected to wifi it seems to take an awfull lot of mb's

we are on approx 4-5 mb line, as soon as she starts to say watch a utube vid the other competer online (connected to router by cable ) starts to freeze up,

previous to her getting ipod she used a tablet for same online stuff which didnt give any issues.

are there any settings in ipod that could help with this problem

thanks Jimbo

some things i can think of , off the top of my head

get a faster connection

or

do you have an 802.11g router? this can happen with g. all wifi speeds are slowed down to the client with the slowest speed. 802.11n and ac fixes this , with MIMO. mimo allows all wifi clients to connect to the router at their individual top speed. with g, if you connected a client at 2 mbit, all clients operated at 2megabit.

do you have dsl ? or uverse? with dsl, uploading would take away from your downstream bandwidth.. maybe she is syncing to iCloud, performing a iCloud backup or sending photos to iCloud, any of that stuff would eat into your downstream with DSL

maybe set youtube to use a lower resolution.

all apple will tell you is to reset network settings, or try to erase the iPod and reset it from a backup

maybe try a different router. one with Qos.. quality control which can prioritize network traffic
