Those with iPhones:-

Does the wifi stay on and CONNECTED, even when the phone is asleep/display off? ie. if you were on meebo or something on an online messenger in safari (and indeed on ichat when it comes), could you put the phone to sleep/turn the display off, and still stay "online", or does it cut the wifi connection off when you Sleep? What about the edge connection, does this behave the same?

Thanks.

When I wake mine up, it is always connected to EDGE first and then WiFi pops on. But I receive text messages while the iPhone was asleep and it woke up so I guess it is always on. Just like a cell phone.

So therefore it looks like edge is constantly on, but it drops the wifi connection when you sleep it?

When Apple bring out iChat for the iPhone, they've got to fix this! You can then be on iChat all the time and it'll bleep/vibrate when you get a message or someone comes online etc.

BTW when it wakes up your phone for texts (when it's docked), is the actual text shown in the screen as it is when the phone's awake...and then does it go back to sleep again a minute or so after if you don't do anything with it (ie. if you're asleep and it's beside your bed)?

I got a text message at 3 am and I didn't check it till morning and since I didn't check it all my phone calls were directed to voice mail, which wasn't set up yet, so I lost some calls.

I haven't had much time to address this problem, but it is on my list of things to do. I think the iPhone should still ring if you have unread text messages.

And I take it when you woke up, your iPhone was asleep? Meaning it woke up briefly for the text, then went back to sleep again? :p

One night I think Meebo kept my phone from going asleep all night.
Which is silly because meebo is not currently usuable, but I was trying to make it work and left it and came back in the morning with it still on with meebo on safari.

So you're iphone was asleep during the night, or was it still on?

Was this on edge or wifi?

Thanks.
