Wich Office?

Just would like to know what version of Office Software you are using.
OpenOffice ? m$ office ? perhaps apple works ? or another one ?
What are the pros what are the con s for / against each version of office ?

I use MS office or Appleworks to open a file occasionly. I just don't write a lot. Made my resume with ioffice on a pc years ago and refresh it from time to time with ms office.

I actually don't use an office "suite" per se. I use Nisus Writer Express (now in beta versions) for word processing, Excel for spreadsheets, Keynote for presentations, and Appleworks for databases. It's a hodge-podge, but it works for me.

I use MS Office occasionally, but I prefer to use AppleWorks. I have been using the database part of AppleWorks for a couple years now. I haven't even noticed, but does MS Office come with Access or another database. I work with some spreadsheets, but the DB is the most important thing for me right now; I use it for monthly billing of customers. I bought MS Office because I got a good deal and because I was starting a new small business and just thought I should have it. Considering the price and the features, I am much happier with AppleWorks.

I'd love to get rid of Office X

Would be glad to sell my Office X CD and get that SOB off of my mac forever. But I haven't heard of any one true Office killer/replacement yet. One that ALWAYS sees Word files correctly, etc.

So, I use Micro**** Office X for now.

Looking forward to the AppleWorks replacement

There is one problem I have with AppleWorks. I often post documents on a web site as pdf's. When I use Preview to make pdf's from the AW word processor, the edges get cut off. If I open the same document (which was created in AW) with MS Word and use preview to write the pdf, it comes out perfectly. It seems strange to me that Apple's own products don't work together as well as an Apple product works with a M$ product.

I am looking forward to the rumored replacement for AppleWorks. It's been a little while since there was any discussion of it, but I am anxious to hear more. I am a little concerned about the price though. I paid about $70 for AppleWorks. IIRC, the price for the new app was rumored to be $200 or more. That's a big jump, but if the features are there, I'll pay for it.

I agree. $200 compared to the bucket of cash that Office has cost me over the last two upgrades. Plus a native Apple app... that'd be swell.

I'd love a MS Office replacement. I think that office X was really well done, just slower than hell. I just need office to be truely efficient at school.

I use OpenOffice. It's quite confusing in some places but it gets the job done for me.

If they don't get that Aqua-native version out soon, I think I'll have to find time to help them out.

am i the only person who doesn't mind ms office? it doesn't ruin my day to use it. it's functional. it does what i expect it to. i only paid $200 for the whole suite. In this month's mac connection catologue, i believe MS Office is still $199.99...i think it's a pretty good deal.

Two gripes about MS Office: no database program (access would be fine) and entourage is ass. a combination of mail and palm desktop take it's place in my dock.
