BeWeather and WeatherUndergournd have fairly good widgets.

I've always liked Moleskine's (kinda wish they did the iOS 10 update better though). Dark Sky's new one is really nice too.

I'm still trying to figure out my NC setup. Some of them seem better just to use with 3D Touch now.

Any widgets besides weather ones? I've recently come back from Android and having a hard time without my beloved widgets. Does iOS 10 have widgets you download separately, or do they only come with apps? I'd love to have a calendar app which actually shows my appointments listed out for the week. I miss ip cam pro widget with a live feed of my camera, but that's probably too much to ask. But I'd love to see some widgets with more customization than what I've seen so far.

There are some apps whose sole purpose is to add widgets to your notifications shade.

I use the Widgets app for the calculator widget (cheaper than paying $10 for Pcalc).

I use Next to track my expenses. The Next widget lets me view my total expenditure for the month from the notifications shade.

I also use Authy for my 2FA codes, Stacks for converting currency from US to Sing dollars (frequently buy stuff from overseas merchants), Copied (for saving text snippets), Launcher (for quickly accessing apps), Fantastical (for a monthly calendar view), Pedometer (for viewing my daily step count), and am currently playing around with the Music and Weather widgets.

You can also force touch apps to display the widget view, which is probably as close to home-screen widgets as you will ever get.

Most widgets just complement apps. There were more standalone ones at the beginning, but developers quickly figured out that they were hard sales when what people really wanted were widgets that mimicked their current calendar/reminders, RSS, etc apps of choice.

There's this one widget that will refresh a cached website/URL every time you bring it up, but it hasn't been updated for iOS 10 yet.

There are many widgets for all kinds of things. Some come as part of apps while some are basically just widgets (they get installed as an app but the app is basically there to help configure the widget).

For weekly view calendar you can try one like the one mentioned at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/eventail-the-compact-calendar-widget.1949133/ although there are some others too.

A fairly big thread of different widgets that has been going on for the last few years (since widgets were introduced in iOS 8) has many different recommendations: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/ios-8-notification-center-widget-megathread.1771816/

do tell...
So far:

Go Launcher, very nice app launcher but doesn't work with settings shortcut
BeWeather: by far the best weather widget out of several I tried
WidgetCal: Only calendar widget I found to give me a full month view with apt text.
Calculator: no more hunting around for the app

I'm still looking for more. Haven't found a decent email one, for some reason there are very very few email widgets and they all suck.

Airmail just added an inbox widget AND Siri integration.

That's what I'm looking for! I wish I could trial before I buy it. Can you post some screenshots? Can you scroll through email, or does it just show the top 2 or 3 emails in your inbox?

issue with all the pull servers re: mail apps... is they always repeat incoming mail.

e.g. Like with apple mail app, you can delete them, exit the app, open it again and they are all there.. the email companies, like microsoft yahoo google etc, all need to pull it together and fix this minute inconvenience.

Can't say I've experienced that issue on different devices, and haven't seen it with other family members or friends.

Very strange, as (without solid data) 99.9993% of the worlds iphone population have this issue lol. congrats to you sir!
You are somehow saying everyone has that issue? People delete mail and then come back to their mail app and the mail reappears? That's something almost everyone experiences consistently?

Yes that is what I am saying.

I have had it on every iPhone I have owned, of which, I have had every iPhone since the 3GS..
[doublepost=1474581489][/doublepost]so what YOU are saying, is
you have never deleted an email through the apple mail app, and the notification has said you still have an unread email???

What notification are you talking about? You've been talking about deleting email and then coming back to the mail app and seeing that deleted mail still being there.

As for notifications, as in a badge or in notification center in iOS, there might have been some isolated cases when that might not have been updated right away, but usually just by opening/reading a new message in the app (not even deleting it) the notification gets cleared up.

any way to turn these off- I want to log into my desktop on the phone not these screens that are not wanted
Turn what off? You can use or not use as many or as little widgets as you want.
