Hey all,

I published a small app tailored for the new Widgets in Sonoma.
I found it quite annoying that Apple didn't add an easy way to toggle show/hiding these Widgets.
Sometimes you're screen-sharing the whole desktop (esp. when remote working) and you may not want all your colleagues to see your potentially sensitive Widgets (especially since they're mirrored from your phone).

Maybe someone else finds this little tool useful.

It's available here https://github.com/sieren/WidgetToggler and free of course :)

Thank you very much! If you have any suggestions on how to improve it, let me know. It's a fairly dumb tool.
Thought of adding Shortcuts support, so one can set Hiding/Showing Widgets depending on the current Focus mode for example. (Sadly Zoom doesn't provide Shortcut Actions or else you could just switch em off during a meeting or screen share)

Thanks for sharing. Is there a way to set a key shortcut for the toggle?

This is such a great idea! One suggestions: Aside from Shortcuts, which you've mentioned, integrating this into the Focus Mode "Focus Filters" feature would be great. I would also say that documenting clearly what this app does would be great, because longterm I may prefer to set up my own scripting that can toggle this rather than have a menubar app. Is this just changing a user default and then restarting some service?

Thanks for sharing this. I was thinking Apple should have added this capability, so it's nice to see a 3rd party solution so quickly.

Matt this is brilliant. A top idea very well executed.

I'm not on Sonoma yet (roll on Tuesday) but will definitely use your app when have if.

On another Note: As I found out today, screen-sharing the Desktop from Mac, macOS Sonoma seems to apply some magic and does not share the Widget overlay to other users! Kind of rendering this app useless 😅
