Ok im having a strange problem with my iBook G4 which i bought back in September. I haven't had any trouble with my wireless until I reinstalled Tiger a few days ago. now after about 10 minutes or so, my wireless just looses connectivity. It will go to load a page, load about half way and pause. Then iChat will sign off and the page will just sit there and try to load until it times out. I've tried different browsers such as firefox, so I know its not just safari. Its not just my router either because I'll take it to the coffee shop or on campus and it does the same thing. I've repaired permissions, I have done the sudo daily, weekly, monthly comands in terminal, I've verified disk and it always comes up clean. Should I try an archive install because this only started happening after I reinstalled Tiger to start with. Any ideas guys?

Even Worse!

ok i tried moving that com.apple.airport.pref file and to the desk top and now its even worse than before!! I tried the whole PMU reset and that didn't do anything either.

Worse? How?

Put the file back where you found it to reinstate the settings and make it a bit better (hopefully).

By the way, are you running any file sharing apps?

why'd you reinstall tiger?

Did you buy the ibook new in september - IE is iteither the 12" 1.33ghz model or the 14" 1.42ghz model? I ask this because these models have airport built in.

Did you run software update after installation?

does the airport connector icon in the menu say that you lost the wireless signal or does the internet just randomly stop working?

Could it be your internet connection?

Could it be your router? have you tried to use your wireless on more than one wireless network?

I bought the 12'' 1.33. Yes I have built in airport. Yes I put in all the updates after i reinstalled Tiger. I reinstalled Tiger to start with because I was having some funny problems with my sounds and a stupid download plugin that no one could figure out how to get rid of and it was keeping me from downloading anything or using any other browser. The airport bar at the top never shows that i loose connection, my browser and ichat just stop working. As I said in my first post, it is not connection or my router. I have taken it to school and the coffee shop and it happens there too. Also when I plug into my router it doesn't happen.

I do rarely so they are on my computer but they aren't running at the moment. I went to apples support downloads page and redownloaded the latest airport card updates. that seems to have fixed it for the most part. It still seems to be a bit sluggish at times and then it will speed back up, but for now im content.
