Wife just bought a new Iphone after she lost hers.
I updated to IOS5 on my Iphone and backed up my contacts etc to the cloud for the first time.
I set up my wife's I phone to back up to the cloud too for the first time!
Now she lost her contacts and has my contacts on her phone!!!
Her Iphone is linked to my daughters computer who is in college so she cannot tether it to restore the contacts since she is not home.
We only have one Itunes account but I would think the cloud software would be able to discriminate what phone to restore to as they have different names?
What can I do now? and how do I set this up correctly with the cloud to back up 3-4 different phones in the cloud with the same Itunes account?

Thanks

Rik

You can use the same iTunes account for the store on all phones, but if you want separate contacts, each person will need their own unique iCloud account.

Is there a way that my daughter in San DIego can export the the contact file and e-mail it to us and we can import it?

Thanks

Rik

That depends on how iTunes was syncing the contacts. If it was through Outlook for example, she would be able to.

If they weren't synced with PC but in an iTunes backup, you'd need to get the backup from that machine and use 3rd party software to remove the info you need.

If it's a mac and in address books your daughter can send you the address book file. it is located
User > Library > Application Support > AddressBook

If she was using either outlook or Apple Contacts.app to sync contacts then all you have do is...

Step 1: Have your wife make her own iTunes account
Step 2: Have daughter log in with said iTunes account in iCloud on her computer and enable contact syncing. http://www.apple.com/icloud/get-started/
Step 3: Have wife turn on icloud using her account on her phone.

The contacts will be uploaded by the daughters computer and downloaded to her phone.

If you were using another service then you may be sol short of just typing them all back into icloud.com.

If you are referring to a backup made on the computer then you will need to get that backup to you. On windows they are store in the user profile folder, not sure on mac. You would have to copy the mobile backups folder to your computer to use the backup as a restore on the iPhone. http://www.everythingicafe.com/forum/threads/location-of-itunes-backup.13176/

Good luck

That's a better idea. :p

Then you could use the same account on your wife's computer and the contacts would go down to it as well.. Then turn of the sharing on your daughters computer..
