At my home, we have a varieties of phones, Nexus 7, Nexus 6, iPhone 6, XS Max, etc.

Both the iOS, 6 and XS Max, will not stay connected on the WiFi, meaning if I check the phone once in a while, the Wifi will be disconnected, then after wake up, it will connect again.

This does not happen on the Android devices (N6, N7). Both Nexus stays connected at all times.

First I thought because the iPhone 6 has old hardware, but now the XS Max also is doing the same thing, so it must be the iOS 12.1.2 because it's not the WiFi router and it's not the iPhone hardware.

Does anyone iPhone have the same issue?

Thanks

it's expected behavior? that means if I have an incoming message, I will not get the notification until I check the phones?

What does wifi have to do with receiving text messages? I receive text or iMessages when connected or not. What do you think happens when your away from wifi?

when I m home, I turn off the cellular so I use only WiFi. if the WiFi doesn't stay connected, then there is no data connection so any iMessage or any other data chat app will not get notification until the WiFi is connected.

When your device is plugged in and charging WiFi will not disconnect. Else enable WiFi calling.

If the phone is in airplane mode and WiFi calling is not enabled, how do you receive phone calls.

Are you not getting notifications and then suddenly getting a lot of them when you turn the phone screen on?

I don’t use WiFi calling. When I am at home my WiFi never disconnects. When I’m away from home the WiFi chip goes into low power/sleep mode.

My max never disconnects from WiFi nor did any other iOS device I’ve owned.

Pretty much all the ones I've had have done that. Going by various threads about this over the years, that seems to be the case for others as well.
