Wifi disconnects when iPhone connects to MacBook

High Sierra 2015 MBP

Both updated and current.

When I plug my iPhone into my Macbook, it immediately loses the wifi connection (icon on phone disappears). In the settings it shows blue and connected, but it isn't.

When I unplug, it returns.

Why?
