Hi:

The airport card in my MacBook no longer works. I've been using the Edimax EW-7811Un dongle. It's not compatible with El Capitan, however.

Has anyone had any luck so far with a Wifi Dongle on El Capitan? Can you give the brand and model number?

In a van down by the river
IOGEAR 4.0 USB Adapter

Before I upgraded to an internal card, I was using that to get the Continuity features in Yosemite. I plugged it in, ran the CAT tool, and had success.

That adapter is listed as working with the Continuity Activation Tool. I have not tried the adapter with El Capitan since I have an internal card but, I think it would work for you.

There aren't any Wi-Fi adapters that are compatible with El Cap, that's just the nature of the OS being unreleased to the public, they usually release drivers after the OS is released, not before.

Edimax has a form on their page for notifications on when the El Cap drivers, go sign up and wait for them to release the El Cap drivers. I'm waiting for the same driver for my 7822UAC adapter.
