All of the sudden my 2010 Mac Pro wifi speeds are topping out at 0.7mb/s, if I can even get the speedtest site to load. That's megabits, not megabytes. Every other wireless device in my house, including my 2011 MacBook Pro on the same desk, are getting 80mb/s, and my internet plan is 100mb/s. All are connected to the same 5GHz network that I went through great care to ensure wasn't on an interfering channel.

I don't use a VPN or any custom settings on any devices. DNS is automatically configured by my provider and again, no problems on any other devices.

Is there a "Reset network settings" equivalent in macOS? Or a way to check if my wireless card is dying? Bluetooth trackpad and keyboard seem to be functioning perfectly, if that sheds any light on the card at all.

Wired isn't exactly an option thanks to the layout of my ancient apartment...

UPDATE: Ran speed test in Windows 10, same machine. Got 13mb/s download, 0mb/s upload. Simultaneously ran speed test on MacBook and got 80mb/s down and 10mb/s up.

Smell like a hardware problem to anyone else?

Have you already reseted SMC and PRAM?

It seems to temporarily help a little. After resets I can get 20mb/s down and 8mb/s up on the cMP, but every other device I own is achieving 90-115mb/s down and 10mb/s up.

At least I know I'm meeting and slightly exceeding my provider's numbers for my plan.

Have you changed the cMP to another spot?
Do you know if it happened after some change you’ve made to the cMP or it’s environment ?
Have you checked internal antena cables and connections?

Nope, been in the same spot the whole time, two feet from my MacBook Pro which works just fine.

The only thing that "changed" was cloning my data to new SSDs.

The fact that my Bootcamp side is also slow worries me.

Original AirPort Extreme for 2012 Mac Pro costs around $10 on eBay, buy one and test. Wi-Fi cards degrade over time, the end of the useful life seems similar of what you describe.

Sounds like the parts are the same or interchangeable between 2010 and 2012, correct?

Yes, Broadcom BCM94322MC is used for a lot of Macs of the same era.

Part number is:
  • MB988Z/A
  • 661-4907

Would it be worth considering getting a wifi bridge of some sort that would plug into an Ethernet port? It would surely connect to the wifi faster than the old wifi card which won't support as many standards as your house router.

I use an old AirPort Extreme as such a bridge and it connects to the main house wifi and provides internet connectivity via ethernet to various devices that don't have built in wifi but do have an ethernet port. Obviously you'd need a power plug to plug in the bridge - for example.

I went out and bought a colossal ethernet cable to get me by. The roommates can deal with it running through the living room and down the hall.

Maybe I'll just keep it like this. Getting 115 down and 10.5 up and no worrying about interference.
