Had my iPhone for a couple of weeks now but have only recently been around London trying to find where to get WiFi access.
As you can imagine there are bucket loads of hotspots in Central London: BTOpenzone, Cloud, T-Mobile, etc......
First question, my iPhone has tried to lock on to a couple of BTOpenzone hotspots. I get directed to the log in page where I am am able to select O2 as a roaming partner. I am then redirected to a page where I can enter my O2 phone number. But... it won't give me access. My number is not recognised.
Is anyone else getting this problem? Does the iPhone contract not allow roaming on partner hotspots. I can't find any information on O2's website or BTOZ's. I would guess connecting to a T-Mobile HS is a no no as it is not a roaming partner?
It would seem as though Cloud HSs are few and far between compared to BT's, and the places I frequent only offer BT and T-Mobile which is a pain.
I guess Apple are going to have to forge a relationship with T-mobile if they want to offer free iTMS downloads in Starbucks in the UK as it doesn't seem to offer roaming access with an O2 iPhone contract, and I do spend an hell of a lot of time in their establishments!
If anyone in the UK can offer some pointers I'll be so chuffed. Do I need to register my number with the partner networks to get access?
Cheers fellow UK iPhone owners.
