WiFi is Slower than EDGE (What's Wrong?)

I've looked for answers on here and swear I had read a solution to my problem before, but I am not able to find them again.

The WiFi does not even work. It's connected. Shows the WiFi antenna signal, but does when I go to a web page, say an iPhone app it will just sit and spin. Nothing will ever happen.

I turn on WiFi and EDGE works and loads up the apps or the pages.

What is going wrong?

I believe that you are having the same problem I had. Are you losing the wifi signal indicator when you try and load webpages and it shows up as the EDGE signal?

how far away are you from your router? i've found the iphone doesn't have great wifi reception. sometimes i'm in my living room, and the iphone is "connected" to the router but it can't load a page. switching to edge or moving closer to my router works for me.

No wifi indicator stays on. It just says safari can not load the webpage (google).

At the time of writing this I was around 10 feet away, but I am usually less than 5. I know that the distance is not the problem on this one... though I wish it was.

I ran a test on my ISPs server page:

So I'm delighted the WiFi performance is excellent.

I'm now using an Apple Airport Extreme Base station as my Combo ADSL Modem?router?WiFi box was not friendly to the iphone.

Clear your cache and turn your phone off completely and let it power back up.

I did that, but now the phone is saying "Safari could not connect to the server." I told it to forget the network and reapplied the password (WEP) but this time as a HEX/ASC or what ever it is.

Still I get the same results. "Safari could not connect to the server"
