Hi! I've just installed beta of Big Sur to MacBook Pro late 2017 and WiFi just stopped working! (besides the fact that the whole system is sluggish and awfully looking)

I've tried to connect to WiFi via terminal but unsuccessfully. The System Preferences app is VERY slow and although it is showing that WiFi is on, but can't connect to any network. More to say, in About This Mac I can see working adapter and all the avaliable networks!

I've got the exact same problem on a MacBook Air. In addition to the system preferences being slow as mentioned by the OP, the menu bar at the top is insanely slow when I try to check for networks (or really do anything on it).

Yes! The same behavior for me too! Have you fixed it? Оr the only way now is to use usb-c/ethernet to revert everything back from backup?

This is beta, that's why you don't complain and search for fixes, because you don't install it as the main system :) There are tons of bugs / not working apps and you won't find solutions up until middle of the august at least :) If you want to use as a main system, wait for public test version at least ;)

I'm not sure where the bitterness comes from. No one said this is a mission critical computer (it's not my daily driver, for the record) and I do have a proper developer account. The idea that someone shouldn't solicit ideas or help in a forum dedicated to said software, despite in early developer release (when the most problems are likely to occur) is ridiculous. If not that, what ARE people supposed to talk about? Only the icons being ugly? Seems a bit pedestrian if that's the whole scope here...

That said, OP, thanks for confirming that ethernet works. I haven't had time to play with it much so hadn't tried that yet. If anyone else has anything productive to add, it would be great to get thoughts or ideas, as working wifi is something which would be nice to have...

Having the same issue here on my backup 2018 MacBook Pro. No wifi available at all. Any suggestions from anyone??

My wifi was working fine, but then suddenly stopped after a few crashes of the system. Only way I got it to work was to remove the WiFi from the Network pane, reboot and reset SMC, then add WiFi back.

After multiple restarts and removing/adding WiFi over the weekend, I started it up this morning and the WiFi was working. So odd. Thanks for your insights and feedback.

I have the same problem in that I can’t connect to the internet even though it says I’m connected however I notice that messages is working so some data is getting through

Did you do an upgrade or clean install?
I found the same problem and after about 2 hours of trying everything except a reinstall saw that the new Little Snitch network adapter wasn't starting. Seems it needed to reinstall on opening Little Snitch preferences and then allowing it to synch on the security and privacy.
This solution will only work if you are using the latest beta Little Snitch app though

I had this problem too - after being on the phone to Apple Support yesterday for 3 hours - in the end we had to erase my disc and re install Catalina. my internet was connected but Big Sur did not recognise it as being connected despite saying it was connected. we did SHIFT COMAND CONTROL R and it rebooted installing Catalina. reccomend a back up as we had to erase MACINTOSH HD in DIC UTILITIES then after that - re install OS. its worked perfectly. I have a brand new MacBook Pro 2020 and Big Sur made it slow and sluggish and non functional basically.
