Hey everyone,

I did a forum search but nothing really turned up for people currently experiencing wifi issues with iOS 14. Even since the last update that was supposed to fix issues I have been having issues. My home wifi will say it is connected. But it will go through periods of nothing loading. A quick turn off wifi via control centre and reconnect by turning it back on solves the issue. However, I did not have this issue prior to iOS 14. I have rebooted my iPhone, I have rebooted my network, I have forgotten the network and reconnected.

Anyone else having a similar issue or know what could be causing such behaviour?

Thanks!

The common problem, from other threads on WiFi on iOS 14, was the Private Address toggle in when you go into the WiFi settings of the network you’re connected.

Go into that and turn off Private Address. That’s likely the solution for you.

I was having wifi issues on iOS14.
What I did to fix it was this:
Go to the VPN section of settings. (assuming you have a VPN and even if it's switched off)
Click on the circle i to take you to the configuration.
Unselect the 'Connect on demand' tab.
It is night and day. I can switch wifi on and off just by checking or unchecking this tab even though I am not using the VPN
I do hope this helps.
Best

Another common problem is having MAC filtering enabled on your router and having "Private Address" set to "On" in your iPhone WIFI settings.

Started having problems half way thru beta. Was worse on iPhone X than 11. PA conflicts with VPN (AdGuard Pro). Also seems like issues with Wi-Fi 6 router Netgear Nighthawk.

I’m using the Nighthawk with WiFi 6 and no issues here now.

I'm fairly sure I don't have MAC Filtering switched on - at the router.

Private address is on

My issues are extremely irregular throughput. Significant jitter is registering and throughput over 5Ghz is anything from 80Mbps to 180Mbps. This happens on iPhone 11 / iPad Pro / AppleTV4K all running iOS14/TVOS14

To put this into perspective, my WAN connection is 1Gbps and a speedtest over the same WIFI 5Ghz to exactly the same speedtest server gives 500-600Mbps on my MBP.

I'm using the speedtest app and speedtest.net, double checked I have exactly the same settings. I can repeat the MBP test multiple times with exactly the same result, In the same position. I also have a log of all my speedtest results on IOS13 on my iPad Pro and they are all >500Mbps every single time, exactly the same as my MBP. But since upgrading to IOS14 its just full of jitter and irregular speeds. I occasionally get 500Mbps but its very very rare.

I obviously thought it maybe congestion / interference, so I checked all of those angles, scanned the airwaves and there is nothing conflicting.

Just don't get it.

Turn this off, you don’t need it on for your home network and is likely causing your issue.

Only need it on for public networks, like when you go to a coffee shop, etc.
I tried that too, turned it off and rejoined. Still the same result. Poor speeds and lots of jitter

Any updates on this? Having exactly the same problem in terms of maintaining connection to WiFi, but stops loading at random, requiring a disconnect and reconnect to start functioning again. Sometimes requiring more than one disconnect/reconnect cycles. Never had this problem prior to iOS 14. Had this problem on iPhone X, then upgraded to iPhone 12 pro max and still have the same problem on the newer hardware. Seems safe to say it’s a software bug, perhaps one that is router specific? Had a family member with an iPhone that had no issues on the same router on iOS 13, then started experiencing the same issues on the same network after upgrading to iOS 14.
