Hi,
I'm new to the forum so i'll try to catch up looking through previous post and participate when possible, so hi everybody and to see you around ;)

I've been searching through the forum without success but if it's already said please point me in the rigth direction :)

Recently i've changed my car and it has a 3G connection so i can set a wifi hotspot using 3G, the problem is my 3g only has 1GB data plan, more than enough as the car only uses 50MB a month so i decided to activate the hotspot and pair my phone, a week later from doing that my carrier notify my that i had already used 900MB from my plan and a few days later 1,1GB as my phone was updating apps through the wifi as i drive work

I haven't found a way to do it but it's possible to mark that wifi as limited data so it doesn't use it to update or download apps?

Thank You!

All you can do is disable auto update of all apps (trust me it hurts battery! ) or play a bit with some kind of adblocker to block ip addresses of apple update servers (I have no idea what are they)...
Thats iOS not Android, but even on Google robot you had to make a root / jailbreak to block everything there.
I wish there was a setting for "Wi-Fi Hotspot" I had on Xiaomi Mi2S device with their Android's MIUI where if you set it it disabled most of connections like mail , updates, google play store and so on, to keep it private.

Ok, so i have to disable auto update at all or stop using the car wifi as it consumes all my plan data... doesn't seems such an unusual configuration to not have it considered...

Thanks a lot ;)

Aside from disabling various auto opinions that can run while you are on WiFi you might want to also keep in mind that iOS can initiate iCloud backups as well as iOS update downloads if you are on WiFi and plugged into a power source. Just something to keep in mind.

The problem i have is that it implies to change iOS behavior for all wifis and i want it to update and upload everything when i'm at home with a not limited wifi, so what i would like to do is to limit downloads (or uploads) just to selected wifi, being able to mak it as limited data wifi o hotspot wifi or ... from what i understand here is all or nothing, it seems awkward to me but i guess it is what it is

Thanks again :)

I think the car wi-fi is newer and maybe apple has not thought about that. But I think it's all or nothing.
