WiFi Looking for Networks

When I click on the WiFi icon in the menu bar, it is always looking for networks and then it goes to "ON". My network is selected and my WiFi works. Is this normal?

Yes, your computer is always looking for networks and especially when your in a populated neighborhood you are going to see a lot of networks.
