WiFi/Network issue after 10.8.4 install

I have a pretty new MacBook Pro (non-retina). All was working well, but after updating to 10.8.4, I seem to have a WiFI issue. All other devices in the house work fine with WiFi. When I can get Speedtest.net page to load, the results are good, about 30mbps down and 5mbps up and 11ms ping.

However, webpages load ******, anytime I make a 2nd tab in safari, the new page is slow to load if it does at all. Some Messages accounts won't connect (gmail and AIM), other apps that require the Internet are just slow.

Has anybody else experienced this and/or have a fix before I bother calling Apple and all that?

Ok, I think this has been resolved. It's hard to say what fixed it but it seems like a classic modem and hardware reset did the trick. Since my other computers and devices were working fine, I didn't expect that to do the trick.

Yes, when I initially load pages it is super slow but eventually it speeds up. I noticed in 10.8.3 it does not do that. I did a speedtest.net to check internet speeds and when it first starts it looks like it lags and then midway through the test I see it update. Horrible, I'm going to try to revert back to 10.8.3.

I used wifi diagnostic tool and its useless also.

I'm experiencing the same issues after updating to 10.8.4
Macbook Pro 13" (retina) connecting to a Time Capsule (running 7.6.3) using WPA2 encryption.

I ran the "Wireless Diagnostics" app and no issues were detected.

I am facing same issue. Slow WiFi / Internet after updating 10.8.4 !

All my other machines are running fine with good wifi internet speed. Only the Mac updated with 10.8.4 is performing slow on WiFi.

i've got the same problem, even after changing wifi security type (on router) to either wep or disable (no password)... but still not solve the problem...

i plugged in the ethernet cable into mbp eth and loading any webpages and then plugged out the cable.. and the problem solved

i'm not sure this way can help other people's problem with wifi after upgrade to 10.8.4 but i think it is easy to just try it out

I called up AppleCare and they gave me this solution.

1. In top menu click on "Go"
2. Press Option (or Alt) Key - then you will see "Library" menu
3. Click on "Library"
Move following folders to trash
- Cache
- Cookies
- Saved Application State

After doing this, the performance was good. But after using it for a couple of days, I am again feeling it is slow.

I am having what seems to be the same problem. However, it happens with both Safari and Firefox browsers and with ethernet and wifi connection to my router. Are those library files you mentioned specific to Safari or do they apply to any browser?

Could you please amplify what you did with your mbp as I am not sure that I understand your comment? Many thanks.

I'm having the same issue with my 2011 MacBook Pro, and our 2013 Mac as well.

First, if you are reading this and have 10.8.3 and have not yet updated, you might want to wait.

OP: did you update to 10.8.4 with the small regular update or have you downloaded the full combo (found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1659)? When I update to 10.8.4 my mac became unstable. Then I downloaded and installed the full combo and it is much better, but still Safari (6.0.5) is crashing very often. Sometimes it lags and a computer restart helps.

The reason for my top paragraph is this: longtime mac user, and safari is crashing more than I can recall for literally years, like IDK, pre-snow-leopard.

I think 10.8.4 was rushed out for the new MacBook Airs. I think 10.8.5 is underway and may be out soon. I hope it fixes people's wifi issues I see here and there, and my safari issues.

WiFi seems to have - ONCE AGAIN - developed a lot of issues with 10.8.4.

Feeling-wise, it seems like every 2nd OS X update breaks WiFi. WiFi is like a precious flower...

This time around I get very slow web page loads at times. Then I disconnect/reconnect and it's fine again for a little bit. Argh.
