Hey all,
Like many of you, I'm sold hook-line-and-sinker by the iPad. Looks absolutely amazing!
However, I'm a little worried. Having carried an iPod touch for a little over a year before getting my iPhone, I'm familiar with the need to reconnect to the WiFi (or wait for the IP negotiation) when I wake up the device. This really frustrated me, as it was around 20 seconds sometimes before I was able to interact. Also, there was no way to keep a very persistent enough connection, so I couldn't have the device check for email reliably while in my pocket.
Thankfully, iPhone doesn't have that problem, and I am notified of an email nearly immediately.
This is something that worries me about iPad, and is pushing me towards the 3G model. Will there be the same sort of issue? Will the device be polling for email while it's in my bag, or will it wait to be woken up before it decides to connect?
Also, anybody else notice that GPS is only offered on the 3G model? I'm thinking this makes it much more lucrative, at least for me, because the Maps looks absolutely killer feature-wise.
