Wifi-Priority

In the more-and-more connected 'world of things' where dozens of cameras, sensors and gadgets use wifi can we not have wifi-priority?

E.g. I have a camera that connects to the iphone via wifi. I only switch on the cameras wifi when I want to connect to the phone, so it would be good to set the cameras wifi to '1 - top priority' when done I'll switch off the cameras wifi (a one button push) and the iphone would go to '2 - home router'.

That way the internet connected world of things, Apple style, doesn't involve constantly going into the settings to manually change wifi networks. Because who really wants to choose their wifi network alphabetically!

u mean preferred network, like what windows can do (& assuming macs), for ur example it wouldnt really do much cause iphone also looks if the wifi network has internet connectivity, if the iphone sees 2 networks, one with internet & one not (camera), its going to want to use the one with internet, understandably so

There are routers that do this. Ours is set up so that the Xbox takes priority over other wifi devices (like my computer).

I do agree that it would be nice to be able to order SSID's in iOS similar to how it can be done on computers. But in the OP's example it wouldn't help anyway since a device already connected to WiFi will never drop that existing connection and switch to another. When it is connected it is no longer searching. That is just how WiFi devices work in general.

Yes being able to see known networks so you can look at their passwords, forget them and order them would be amazing. Currently you can only manage known networks when you are in range of them and even then you can't do half the things I mentioned. I do think this will come to iOS eventually. We can currently view known Bluetooth devices even when not in range (as an aside I also hope they allow us to rename Bluetooth devices in a future iOS)
