Wifi selection issue on SR MBP

Hi all,

I just bought a new SR MBP 15.4'', and I find none of the problems described here (except for a single dead pixel just to the left of the apple on the top menu bar, but it doesn't bother me, it is minuscule and I have to really try hard to see it so I think I will keep it).

Anyways, my issue, am I going crazy or is there something wrong with the wifi selection on the menu? I mean, when I click on the airport symbol on the top right of the screen the menu with the airport options (and networks) doesn't open immediately how it used to, it takes some fiddling around. One click would do it with all my other macs, but not with this new one. I tried other machines just to make sure I'm not crazy (I have a Mac Pro and older Powerbooks, and I went to the Apple store and tried other Mac Book Pros) and the only ones where the menu doesn't open readily is the SR MBP. Did you guys notice this or am I just going nuts?

It is kind of annoying to me because I change networks frequently between home and offices.

Yes I noticed the same thing too, but I always thought that is the way it has always been.

It was the same with my older C2D MacBook Pro too.

It was the same with my older C2D MacBook Pro too.

Both of the C2D MBPs here do it too. You have click and sometimes wait almost 2 seconds before the WiFi menu pops down.

That's strange, in my PowerBooks and PowerMac G5 one click opens the menu, just like the other menus (bluetooth, date/time, etc). I noticed the difference immediately on my MPB. Good to know that I am not alone.

You may also notice that your MBP displays more wireless networks than your PPC Macs did.

My PowerBook would never display as many WiFi networks as any Windows computer you could sit next to it, but my MacBook Pro and Intel mini display the same amount. Don't know if the WiFi drivers for the PPC Macs were different or what...

I'm having occasional problems with my wi-fi. Sometimes after waking my new SR MBP up from sleep, airport is disconnected from my home network. Also it has happened a few times while using the computer. What can I do to fix this? I'm also a new mac user so this is kinda annoying.

With 3 antennas it takes a bit longer to home in on the signal
