I understand that you have to be on the same network in order to wifi sync. I have a dual band router though, and I usually have my MBP on the 5 GHz band and my iphone on 2.4 GHz (since it can't see the 5 GHz), and sync won't recognize them as being on the same network.

Now, this isn't a big deal AT ALL, but I'm just slightly surprised because I use Rowmote Pro, which also requires that the laptop and iphone be on the same network, and it never had a problem with one being on the 2.4 GHz and the other being on 5 GHz. Does anyone else have any experience with this?

(and yes, I really really know this isn't a big deal, it took like a second to change the laptop to the 2.4 GHz band, I'm just asking out of curiosity).

I thought I read that it had to be on the same IP segment. If that's the case as long as they both are using the same IP range wouldn't it work? My old 3G can't upgrade so not testing for me but perhaps someone else can answer you.

Cheers,

Went to the "iTunes Wifi Sync" and followed the directions, plugging in the iPod into an outlet 6 feet from the pc and launched iTunes.

Still a greyed out option to "Sync Now".

What am I missing?

*edit* fixed now! CRisis averted.
