After I rebooted earlier this week my iPhone and iPad vanished from the devices list in iTunes. If I plug them in via lightning cable it shows up and works. It disappears the moment I unplug it. It has been working fine for years across multiple iPhones up to a few days ago.

The Facts:
iPhone 7 running 10.0.2
iPad mini 2 running 10.0.2
Mac Pro (early 2008) running El Capitan 10.11.6
iTunes 12.5.1.21
Wireless router is Airport Time Capsule (A1470 - 5th Gen - firmware 7.7.7)

Troubleshooting steps taken:
Multiple reboots of the Mac and both devices
Reboot of Airport Time Capsule
Multiple restarts of iTunes
Disabling and re-enabling wifi sync on each device
Forget and rejoin wifi network on both devices and Mac
Unplug ethernet and use wifi only on Mac

None of the above had a positive result. I feel like I'm back in the stone ages having to actually plug a device in. Any ideas wise friends???

Coincidentally, I'm having the same problem since the past couple of days (or the past week?). Only I'm running Sierra. I've been too busy to troubleshoot though.

On Windows it needs to restart Bonjour service and restart iTunes - then it find iPhone
