Plug the phone in to the machine he wants to sync with. In iTunes, look for the 'Summary' tab and check the box that says "Sync this phone with Wi-Fi." Once that's checked, you should be good to go. You can force a sync from Settings>General>iTunes Wi-Fi sync.

I also ran into this problem last night. I synced one via wi-fi, but iTunes acted like it was still trying to sync stuff after the iPhone had finished the sync. Later I tried to initiate a wireless sync, and the option was greyed out on the iPhone.

Haven't had time yet to resolve the issue.
