So I think I am getting the hang of this new syncing process but I have a couple questions. If I check "Sync over wi-fi" does it only sync over wi-fi when I plug it into the computer will it do it via USB? Is this syncing automatic? Also when doing it over wifi does it make a complete backup of the IOS device so if I is lost or corrupted or replaced can I get back exactly how it was? Must this only be hard wired to do so? I understand the backing up to iCloud does not provide backups of my media, just apps and settings and such. I would prefer to backup my entire iPhone to my computer but it would be nice if it did it wirelessly on it's own. And if it does indeed do this. Does it do it periodically throughout the day? Thanks for the responses to these questions.
Even if you have wireless syncing enabled, it will be able to sync through a wire. Wireless syncing will happen automatically IF your iPhone is plugged in to some form of power, AND your computer is on with iTunes open, and they are both on the same wifi network. I'm not sure how often it will resync in this situation. IF you have iCloud backup turned off, then it will backup to iTunes over wireless and wired syncing. If iCloud backup is on, it will do neither. Keep in mind that iCloud does save everything your computer backup does. If you restore from an iCloud backup, and then sync with your iTunes, it will be that same as a restore from your computer. iCloud backs up automatically if your phone is plugged in, connected to wifi, and locked (it can also be triggered manually at any time). I hope this answers all your questions. I am 100% sure of these answers, as I've been figuring out iOS 5 since beta 1
