New Wardriving iPhone App???

Looks like a new app to compete with WiFiTrak and Wififofum is out now. It just showed up in the what's new list for me, WiFi-Where. I'll check it out and try to post some info later. Anybody else try it yet?
 
add yFy Network Finder to the mix.

There is a new contender in the mix. yFy Network Finder raises the bar on mobile wifi scanning/mapping. The application is database driven and automatically tracks all of its acquired data from session to session and aggressively improves upon it with each use. The map features are fully integrated into the application. You can scan and watch the map being built as it is happening. This app has many advanced features and options.

yFy Network Finder's mapping functions is what sets it apart from the rest.
The maps will work best on the iPhone 3G/3GS with the internal gps hardware... without the gps, the maps won't be all that accurate.

Your right, this app is slick. Wish it was out b4 I brought wififofum. Wifi Track I got rid of along time ago. Since real estate is limited, I will have to replace wififofum with this. Thanks for the heads up!!!
 
Used WiFiFoFum and WiFi-Where

My two cents....

Both apps are pretty good. I think when it comes to AP discovery, WiFi-Where tends to find more and is generally more stable.

I had a few questions about the app, and contacted Three Jacks Software. Questions were answered and they gave me some insight to the next version. They didn't give me details, but it sounds like they are actively developing this app...which is good news. I think the app is going to evolve as the company seems to be responsive.

This is MacRumors, so I can start one of my own. In the email they also mentioned that they were working on an app for iPhone that would provide a comprehensive set of networking tools...this could be very handy! Would compliment WiFi-Where very nicely.
 
These apps don't appear to be available in the iTunes store anymore - - has Apple changed it's policy towards them recently?


{Edit: I found the answer to my own question - - it seems that Apple purged the App Store of all wi-fi finding apps because they use “a private framework to access wifi information.” Here's a blog article discussing it. I guess I picked a bad week to decide to buy one WiFiFoFum. One thing's for sure, this topic sure received a lot less news coverage than last month's boobie app purging!}

appears both WifiTrak and Wififroum has been removed from App store.:mad:
Anyone know of a substitute App or reason they are gone?
