Hey was wondering if I should pick up an external ssd for my 2012 iMac but I'm going to buy a new one by September and if it has an SSD in a base model that doesn't cost $480 CAD to upgrade, it would kind of be a waste of money.
Thanks!

Alas no... But dare I say Fusion in 2017?
Ya I think you're right.
Looking at the Surface Studio from Microsoft includes SSHD at their base model. Then again its a $3000 computer.

Rapid hybrid drive options: 64GB SSD with 1TB HDD, 128GB SSD with 1TB HDD, 128GB SSD with 2TB HDD

Apple also seems more interested in pushing the speed of the SSDs than bringing the prices down right now. I would be surprised if the new SSDs don't make their way to future iMacs and Mac Pros.

Well indeed, we for sure know Apple won’t drop prices ;-)

Current iMac 27" 5K pro models line-up could ’ve easily been reduced to 2 basic models (Fusion/SSD), IMHO.
