The iPhone X was dropped and how has this white bar on the side along with cracks on the screen and back. Do you think replacing the screen would fix this or is it likely some other type of internal damage? It's out of warranty so the repair would be done my myself but I don't want to waste money on it if its a lost cause.

Here is a pic showing the white line.

If dropped then its a screen problem, if it were a hardware bug it would have just shown up on its own.

Replacing the screen on an iPhone X is much harder than on any earlier iPhone, and so expensive it's probably not worth it. If you must have a $1000 phone, insure it. If you're likely to drop it often, get a tough case, or consider a cheaper phone.

Full disclosure, some one is selling it for $150 and having changed out screens on a few devices I wasn't too worried about the procedure. But man I didn't realize the price of replacement screens were so high. Definitely something to consider, thanks.

No way to know without performing diagnostics.

In many cases, dropping the phone will result torn connectors inside the phone. See below for example.

I feel like this is a rather extreme example no? That stainless steel X was dropped hard enough that it warped, that’s not an average fall, or even an average fall that causes a crack. It hit whatever it hit with above average force.
