...and on that note. Could someone tell me the best place to get one of the new nanos in the San Fransisco area. Im assuming the price is the same everywhere. So what places (except the Apple store) have them in stock, or will do by the end of next week.

(8gb nanos - or maybe even the 16gb)

but what about buying a macbook in the US to use in the UK?
anything i would need to know at all? power differences or anything? warranty info?

I would strongly suggest going to an Apple Store, some small shops sell iPods at greatly inflated prices, as they hope tourists think they're getting a good deal (conversion rate savings etc).

I wouldn't suggest getting something like a MB from the US as the warranty is not international, as soon as you brought it back, if you ran into any problems, you would have to fork out of your own pocket to fix them.

Also you'd need to buy a UK to US plug adapter for the power supply, which could be prone to failure (Power supply costs £60 to replace...)

I contemplated doing the same thing when buying my first mac, and I was quickly talked out of it, you get savings, but it's not worth it in the grand scheme of things.
