I'm considering building an early 2009 mac pro from parts. I have found affordable sources for the 8-core logic board. I am curious if it is possible to install only one processor initially. This would cut down on my start-up costs but allow me to upgrade later.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Is there anything I need to do differently to set it up? Can I utilize all 8 memory slots or just the 4 associated with the installed processor?
