So, having not been able to transfer my settings/iTunes across to my laptop before I left for University, I ignored syncing my iPod with this laptop.

I downloaded the update yesterday, only to (foolishly?) discover that I would need to backup my iPod to this laptop - and it refused to let me due to this not being the PC I sync my data with.

I've 'transferred' purchases over to the laptop, but I'm cautious as to the app data that will or will not be saved.

I'm not too bothered about the loss of my notes/music/videos, as I can quickly sort them out, but the data that I have on my apps being there/backed up is key for me.

So my question is this; will I be able to regain my app data, and should I update, or should I leave it till I get home to update and transfer my settings over?

Thanks in advance guys :)

I'm in the same quandary as you are, sort of. The old PC that I used to sync my iPhone with is now rendered useless, and the files are all jumbled up on it.

Anyway, since you still have access to, and can still use, the computer that your iPod was first synced with, I'll be patient and sync & update your iPod using it if I were you. Less headaches that way.

Definitely never noticed that.. It is availiable, and I'm attempting it now....

----------

Well, apparently I've backed it up, so I'm assuming a restore will/is possible.

I'm away from home, where my PC currently is, and due to the rush of getting to University (300 miles away), I was unable to sort my iTunes out..

So essentially, I'd have to wait till Xmas - which I could, in theory but its purely a case of whether I want to.. :L
