Hey!
There was a time when Apple cleaned up iOS App Store from old apps that weren't updated. Why aren't they doing the same for the Mac App Store? I can find plenty of apps that are out of date: Last updated in 2011, 2012 etc and they don't play well with Big Sur.
Will Apple clean up Mac App Store as well someday?

I mean for example, take a look at this: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/codebox/id412536790?mt=12 The last update was 9 years ago. At least apps that were last updated in 2015 look good on Big Sur.

I also avoid buying apps nowadays from the independent developers (even though I want to support them), because I've learned that they don't really update their apps.

At least one update in every three years would be great, but nope…

Also, I bought CodeBox awhile ago for $10 and now it's free of charge, but it's a bit depressing that I didn't even receive one update. I even asked the developer to update the app to make it look more modern, but I got no response.

Not everyone can run Big Sur, or Catalina, or.... Big Sur in particular got ugly in a lot of places, so it would depend on whether the developer thinks it is worth targeting.

I get it, but there are so many apps that haven't been updated since 2012…
