Seeing the new tech apple is doing with your iPhone being used as a high quality camera with top down feature do you think apple is preparing to release a full screen computer now? I really can’t stand the notch it just ruins it for me and seeing this new idea they have made me think they are preparing use that they are going to take out the camera completely which I would love personally.
what are your thoughts?

I don't think it would happen anytime soon especially with the remote work environment going on now. Not everyone that has a Mac has an iPhone.

Not soon but 2-4 years out is what I was thinking. They might want to see how many people use the phone as a camera before they go that route. Really seems like they want to and it would sell more phones. But usually anyone that has a mac has an iPhone from my experience.

I'd like to use my iPhone while using my Mac, and I'm pretty sure many others want to as well.
Do you normally take calls and spend time on your phone? Cant say I’ve done that on a video call. On a normal call i have but not really ever in my mind to be on my phone when talking to someone.

That's sort of like sitting down at a meeting and expecting nobody to touch their phone. Anybody in a Zoom or Teams call today will probably check their phone for messages or search for info. Heck, I use it sometimes to record the audio of a meeting.

This Continuity Camera sound great in theory, but in reality, I doubt anybody will use it. The people who want high quality images will get a proper 4K webcam. They're not going to dedicate a $1,000 iPhone for a webcam.

Well, that leaves Apple an opportunity for some nice integration that automagically mutes your videoconference and lets you make/take a call on your computer, via the "docked" phone.

User: "Yes Mom, I put clean on this morning!"
CEO: "I'm sorry?"
User: "Darn, didn't click on 'accept call and mute meeting'!"

Not a chance. They may offer creative and/or innovative ways to use multiple and/or external cameras but integrated webcams are here to stay for likely a very long time.

Things are heading in that direction for sure. Say by 2024-25 we may see a version of MBP without a web cam for sure.

I couldn't disagree more (just my opinion obviously). I think video has become so integrated into both our personal and professional lives that there will always (at least 10 years but likely much longer) be some level of integrated solution. It will never be the best in comparison to dedicated webcams, phones, etc that have so much more volume to handle better censors, lenses, etc - but it will always be the default lowest common denominator.

I do think Apple will give more options to use and integrate other cameras into the experience for things like collaboration and whatnot, but that is a supplement for specific use cases rather than their integrated solution.

I do hope so.
If they implement faceID on MacBooks, I can understand the notch there. Although a bezel would me better in my eyes. I have a hard time justifying the notch on the current MacBooks 😅.

On the iPhone I am used to it, and was used to it during the setup of my iPhone 11 3 years ago. On the Mac the notch feels ridiculous for me.
