As of now when using an hdmi it only mirrors the display and puts the big black bars on the side since the aspect ratios are different. Do you think Apple will ever make this better by letting the iPad display fill up the whole monitor and use the monitor as a separate display like you would do on Mac or Windows? Or is this not in their best interest?

Thanks.

Who knows? Used to be that supporting the use of pointing devices on an iPad was a far out thought. I certainly hope that aspect ratio matching is added.

If they were to add fullscreen monitor support and multi-user support in iPadOS 15, I would be in love.

It's a design interface conundrum...
Currently anywhere that can be touched on the iPad screen translates to the 2nd display.

So if you have an app on the 2nd display that fills the whole wide-screen, does the iPad now get black bars on top and bottom to match the 2nd display? What if you connect to ultra wide display (black bars on top/bottom get even taller)?

Or does the iPad treat the app on 2nd display as a Space and not allow it to be touched with the iPad (must have a mouse connected)? Does the iPad screen become a giant trackpad if no mouse is connected (but then what is displayed on iPad)?
