Will Apple improve the Finger Print Resistant Coating in 2018 iPad Pro ?

Hey Everyone !

Just like a lot of people here, I too had a concern about too many finger print showing on the current 10.5” iPad Pro !! making me think if the Oleophobic finger print resistant coating applied by Apple is even working or not? I had a question, any chances that Apple might take this problem into consideration and improve it in the 2018 iPad Pro, Come to think about it, according to Apple they have already used, applied the Finger Print resistant coating so according to Apple they have done their bit, I don’t know what else different could they do ? If we were to ask it to Apple. Just a thought. What do you guys think ?

I would say it is a big step up from the air 2's coating, which was not only a fingerprint magnet, but also was difficult to clean, wasn't durable and fogged up easily...i just keep a good cloth next to my iPad stand and wipe it before I use it to prevent lots of prints from accumulating.

I honestly think the anti-reflective and finger print resistant cover are stupid. They’re just one more thing to have to worry about rubbing off or getting scratches or scuffs on. I loved the first iPad’s pure glass screen (reflectivity is a non issue for me,) even in a light filled room. It makes cleaning the screen friggin annoying too.

So if the finger prints are coming on to the iPad Pro because of the Anti-Reflective coating I do not think Apple is likely going to remove it. The Anti-Reflective Coating will remain there and so will the finger prints even in the 2018 iPad Pro. IMHO.

I dunno, will apple spend the time and effort on this, I don't see them doing that, but yet, it may be one of those small things they may do to make the iPad even better

I am betting that some will have to get used to it. I just wipe my display off at the end of the day. Keep the MF cloth right by where it gets charged. Do not pay much attention to finger prints created during the day. Seems so are very sensitive to these prints while other can just see beyond them.

I happen to find the coatings on the 10.5 to be stellar. The fingerprints show up pretty easily when the screen is off, but they wipe off easily and they aren’t too visible when the screen is on. Also, this is the first anti-reflective coating from apple that has made me truly prefer using glass to a matte finish. I love matte finishes, but only for their ability to reduce glare etc... (using the Apple Pencil is nicer on a matter finish too). But WOW, the coating is so good that it feels like there isn’t much light glare whatsoever.

The fingerprints I’ll live with. FWIW, I came from the gen 12.9 ipad and not only did fingerprints show up real easy, but they were a true pain in the ass to get rid of. Not the case with the 10.5 imo.

What kind of story? Yes, the the IPP seems like a fingerprint magnet, but I don't think its newsworthy.

Every glass screened thing is a fingerprint magnet. I haven't noticed the Pro to be any better or worse than my previous iPad Air 2 or android smartphones when they were new at resisting fingerprints.

Resistance is futile. We're oily beasts. No way of getting around that without using gloves.

Most have agreed here that this problem has come into existence more after the 2016 9.7" iPad Pro ! So it wasn't the case with all the iPad's as you say...

Yeah, this is true. I didn’t have too much trouble with my Air, whereas I usually have to clean this thing off everyday. The anti reflection is pretty nice though.

I couldn't care less about any of these coatings. I clean my iPad screen using clean paper towels and ammonia-free glass cleaner. Quick spray, quick wipe, looks like new. Works great. If fingerprints build up, another quick clean, takes 20 seconds.

My iPad screens don't have a single mark or scratch after years of doing this. Same for iPhone.

This was also a big gripe on the forum when the air 2 was new, and many people noticed when Apple released the iPad 5’th gen without the reflectivity layer that it was easier to clean.
