Will Apple make a 15 inch Air?

MBA is portable. 15"'s of laptop is not.
However a 26" that folds in half when transporting. That would be awesome. They could call it the iMac Air

That was my first thought but after thinking more about it a 15 inch Air would be the ultimate portable computer for me and I'm sure others.
Edit: they could use the extra space in it for even more battery life, it would be a winner for me and my needs.
Correct but it wouldnt really be smaller (in terms of footprint) maybe lighter and slimmer
yes they eventually will.. just visualize the 13 inch macbook air with a VERY very small bezel....and VIOLA there is your 15 inch macbook air. and so on...the 11 inch will become the 13 inch and we will have a 11 inch that is the size of the current ipad.

A ultra thin and light 15" notebook? You it bet a 15" MBA would be a hot seller!
With the added width and length of the machine image what all they could fit in there, the spec's could be incredible.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is a 15" MBA on the horizon. If there isn't then maybe they don't want to take attention from their MBP's.

Apple has said that the Air is the next generation of laptops. What I take from that is that at some point down the pipeline the MBA and MBP will merge into one design. I believe that this will happen once SSD replaces HDD as the default option and optical drives are finally put to eternal sleep. Something that is still a good 5 years away I think.
Its at that point that the MBP line will become MBA like in design and they'll have an 11", 13",15",17" with something similar to the current MBA visage. Now whether they choose to continue to differentiate those into MBA and MBP will be the interesting question.

I agree. The future of apple laptops will have the performance of MBP and portability of MBA.

I'd personally prefer to see the current MacBook not move too much in spec, drop in price and be joined by a 15" for about £999 (or equivalent). Anyone wanting a larger screen at the moment isn't overly concerned by weight and thickness, but as we know that will change.
A lot of customers I serve can be put off by another £550 and they're not as concerned by battery life, performance or size/weight. Not everyone, just some. Go back to something akin to the days we had 12" and 14" iBooks and 12", 15" and 17" PowerBooks (while keeping MBA). Gave customers a great spectrum and with Apple the size it now is I don't think it would Hirt sales too much either way.

As an intermediate, I wouldn't mind seeing a 14" MBA....that would be ideal and very doable in the current form factor....
Agree. I think with the advent of hi-res OLED displays, we will see the death of unsightly thick bezels. They are chief pet hate with Apple laptops.
It says something that the venerable 15" PowerBook G4 in both Ti and Alu forms had a svelte and perfectly proportioned bezel, yet todays' MBPs and MBAs look awful. The 11" MBA is the worst offender of all. Definitely scope for squeezing more display in the unibody form factor.
They also had a thicker lid and the MBA bezel is structural, not just decorative. Never mind the fact that laptops are used in all kinds of situations where it's good to demarcate the screen from background noise. Do you work as an engineer or in the psychology of perception?
Indeed, and I'd rather have a bit more bezel for structural considerations than the old plastic rim around the entire machine, which just looks so ugly to me now. Anyway, are today's anti-glare 15s and 17s really much different from the old ones?
On the topic more so, I'd rather they didn't - the 13" already feels quite delicate with that display in such a thin lid, surely making it even bigger would just be asking for trouble? I could see it with the glass cover but then that takes away the Airyness.
