Will Apple Pay and contactless payments be accepted everywhere in the USA when Mastercard removes the magnetic stripe from their cards by 2030?

From what I’ve read they are still keeping the chip in the card, so a user could still insert the card into the card reader.

Doubtful on ApplePay. Several big players are still holdouts... And Costco accepts ApplePay withouth question, but does not accept Mastercard - they are Debit card and VISA-only.

I'm not sure what one has to do with the other. There are plenty of chip readers in the wild that don't accept contactless at the moment. What will removing the mag stripe do for that?

What is the relevance of this example?

For the most part it already is. Thanks to COVID era most US retailers now accept Apple and Google Pay, save for a few holdouts, most notably Walmart and it's partners like Sam's Club. Walmart is adamantly hellbent on insisting on their own terrible payment methods instead of going contactless
