Will Apple provide a more powerful cpu for Mac mini?

I'm prefered a quad core 2.2G/2.5G i7, then I can use it as a desktop computer in my office. Anyone agree with me?
I think you'll need to wait for the next revision of the Mac Mini probably mid next year.
It is a desktop... What are the faster quads actually going to do for you rather than the 2.0 as an office computer?
What sort of office work requires that much power?
Secret office work? SPY office work? Secret spy mega office work?
I think the new mini is a beast, especially the one with the AMD graphics. The server model is pretty neat too, so much power in such a tiny desktop.

A quad-core 2.2Ghz CPU isn't going to give that much of a benefit over a quad-core 2Ghz CPU (otherwise with same specs) for most users.
The main reason an informed purchaser would get a 2.2Ghz 15" MBP over a 2Ghz one would probably be for the better graphics option that Apple includes in that model. There's no such option with the Mini at this time and no option to use a quad-core 2.2Ghz CPU.
Personally I'm considering buying a quad-core 2Ghz model.

+1 I'd be going for the dual core i7 with the AMD graphics, it's a pretty well speced out machines.
In fact once my tax is back I'll be getting one.
I'm running the 2.0 quad mini now, for an office computer, I can't imagine what needs one would have to justify a faster machine.
If your office work includes encoding/decoding video files, RAW photos etc, then it may be needed, but for general office productivity even the 2.0 quad is total overkill.
What is really nice about the quad, is that it will better support the multitasking options in Lion better than the others. With it being so easy to set up multiple desktops (for me running on two monitors) with multiple running apps is really helpful. Using the quad helps reduce lag when switching between them.

What are you planning to use it for? To be honest you currently don't need any more CPU power for an office computer and typical tasks. What would make it a lot faster is a SSD.

Apple can only make a mac mini with a quad 2.3 i7 and a real gpu if they bring back the brick. I for one would want that machine it could be close to the equal of the top end macbook pro 15 inch with it being equal to the better cpu option and a bit less then the gpu in the 15 inch mbp.
Maybe in 2012. The brick is needed to power the cpu and the discrete graphics card. The brick has 110 watts the current mini has 85 watts. The cpu and the better graphics card are 45 watts plus 20 watts that leaves too little for hdds fans wi fi chip fw800 bus usb bus.
If you sold me a mac mini with a quad 2.3 a good gpu for 900 and it needs a brick psu to work sign me up.
If the op does a lot of handbrake/encode at the office the better quad helps. As for a better gpu maybe he takes a gaming break for lunch.

I would probably get the dual with the AMD GPU. The GPU does a bit of the work, and the 2.5 i5 is plenty to handle PS, as it doesn't really take advantage of the quad too well anyhow.

+1 for the Dual Core i7 with the 6630M, you'll have more than enough power than you need not to mention far more graphics grunt.

I have to agree. that this will work billb. i ordered a few 2.5 models to mod I will keep one and sell the rest. I think most users will find the 2.5 at 799 or the 2.7 at 899 will be golden.
the 2.3's are more for users that are want to run uTorrent and encode them with handbrake also if you do some eyetv and netflix you can just add ram and get in cheaply. The servers are good for well servers.
Apple has poised the mini nicely with these models. I would say that these are the biggest boost in one update ever. My 2009 2.66 mini had the highest 64bit geekbench score of all 4090 the 2010 2.66 mini has a 4150 score not mine. the new machines now have score of 9000 in the case of the server. or 6300 with the i7's really big boosts.
these machines are part of apple's goal to beat back blu-ray making it a dead tech. (not sure if they will)
