Will apple replace my iPad solely for wifi issues? I have had it for a month and a half. It will not automatically connect to known wifi networks. It does this very randomly but frequently sometimes as soon as I put it in sleep mode and wake it back up it is not connected and resorts to Edge.. Then I have to go into the settings and manually connect it back to the wifi network. And sometimes it just forgets the password of the network. This is an extreme nuisance and it's getting old.. I have heard that they are pretty lenient with replacements but I was just wondering if they would still be as lenient now that it's been almost 2 months.

Also I have an SGP skin guard protector on the back that is like $25 would they be able to refund this if I got a new iPad. It's not my fault it has wifi issues I shouldnt be out another 25 bucks because of their problem..

Any help is appreciated.

Yeah they should do they did the same with mine

I highly doubt that they would replace the skin. It's not apple's fault that you decided to pay for something to place on your iPad that is not essential for the proper functioning of the device.

No but it is their obligation to make a properly functioning device in the first place. If i didn't have to replace THEIR mistake I wouldn't have to buy another skin therefore it is their fault..

They don't redo engraving on iPods either.

My iPad started doing this yesterday out of the blue. I was 5 feet from my Time Capsule and it was using 3G. I went into settings and it found the net and I had to click on it to get it to connect. I had been on wifi 10 minutes before it went to sleep.

It hasn't done it today, but it threw me for a loop yesterday.

Sounds like it could possibly be just a software issue.

If you haven't already, I'd suggest backing up the iPad and then doing a full restore and see if WiFi works. Then try re-installing your backup and see if it still works.

If that doesn't work, you could always try taking it to the Genius bar and explain the problem. They may know how to fix it, or they may be able to arrange something about the skin on the back of your iPad.

What does the skin have to do with the wifi on the iPad ? If Apple replaces your iPad will the skin no longer fit ?

I'm just waiting for a software fix. Mine will randomly disconnect from WIFI on occasion as well, but I figure that since it's a known issue there is no sense in starting all over again in the hope that the next one doesn't have the same issue.

Mine started having problems connecting to wifi this week. The signal strength in my house become nonexistent -- the same places it had been fine before and where my iPhone and laptop were getting a strong signal.

I did a hard reset (holding down the power and home buttons simultaneously until the :apple: logo appears) and the signal's back to normal. Weird.

Take your case off see of it improves wifi reception. My dad used to use some cheap case on his iPhone and has similar issues until he took it off. Not the same device but same idea.

In general I've found that if you can recreate an issue for the Apple guys or they can see it in the logs on your device you'll get a replacement.
