I bought a new Macbook Air a week ago, after two days the Macbook stoped working and would not turn on at all after I tried to restart it. I took it to a certified Apple service provider and they told me that they might need to open it and replace the hard drive.

I honestly didn't feel happy about that. Would apple replace it for me if I take to an Apple store? Or can I just return it and get my money back?

Thank you.

it's in your 2 weeks, so you can bring it back. Replacing the hard drive isn't something to stress about, tho.

You've missed something...

Just to point out, the MBA doesn't have a hard drive. It's flash memory which is soldered on....so it can't be swapped out can it?

I thought the only way was to replace the MBA.

EDIT: Then again, you could be talking about the previous gen...my bad...but if you're not, those are my thoughts.

It has flash memory, but it isn't soldered on. It can be unplugged and swapped. There were a few companies selling larger SSDs until Apple told them to quit.

The RAM modules, however, are soldered in.

Crap... why did you have to include the link, as now I want one! Fast and huge. I don't even need that much storage. I wonder what my stock 256GB would bring? I think it would be a lot better deal at $699 too. It shouldn't cost that much but then they probably don't sell many at all as it's very niche.

Wow, that is pretty cool to have options! But for almost as much as a air, ahhhh I rather get an extra air! Can't wait till the day SSD will come alllllll the way down. If I had the money to throw, I would get it!

I am sorry SD, I have been toying with a 64 GB refurb, and for 8 screws, putting in a 320GB from OWC. I just assumed you knew:eek:

Sorry that your thread has been hijacked. What worries me about your post is you said you took it to a certified Apple service provider. So this sounds like you don't live near an Apple store, or you purchased from a Apple reseller.

If you did buy it from an Apple store and are within your 14 day return period, then you should insist on a replacement. If you are past the return period, you need to take it to an Apple store or certified Apple repair for service. Or you can call Apple and have it sent it for repair.

If it's within 14 days, an Apple Store will definitely replace it if there is something defective.
