Just wondering if Apple will be carrying them? I don't plan on ordering online and rather buy through the store.

Possibly but unlikely in the beginning. You can always ask them to order you one for in-store pickup or you can order one from online store with in-store pickup if you want.

Those i7 imacs are custom designed imacs. In other words, you have to pay more to get it. Since it's not a standard configured imac, I doubt they will carry it.

The 2009 i7 systems were also BTO only at first, but then Apple retail stores (at least here in the U.S.) began to carry them this year. I think the i7 ended up being more popular then they may have expected initially. I would think that they would have the new i7 iMacs in the stores at some point if not right away.

I'm sure we'll know soon.

I want to know this too.
I live outside US and my sister is going there next month. She said she could bring me an iMac if I wanted (what an angel!) and I'm wondering if she will find an iMac Core i7 in retail stores.
If not, is there a way I can order it from abroad for her to pick up in the store? Is there any other solution?

I just phoned the Atlanta, Lenox Square, Apple Store and they have the Quad i7 2.93 GHz in stock.

My local Apple Store always had a few i7s (2009) in stock. Easiest way to find out is to call them.

Not sure if they have stock @ the retail level, but my guess is yes. However I ordered my iMac yesterday online and an hour ago I got a confirmation email that my item has shipped.

To the best of my knowledge, in-store pickup is not available for BTO models.

+1 :(

I was trying to see if I could find an i7 around me and called all 4 Apple Stores and none of them have them... So I guess I'll have to settle for the i5 :(`

Yeah, at least in the US it doesn't look like you can pull off in-store pickup. I live in Pennsylvania so an in-store pickup at the (tax free) Delaware store would be fantastic. Unfortunately, this makes the i7 (or any other) upgrade significantly more money, since not only am I paying for the upgrade, but also the taxes that come along with delivering it in PA :(

Lucky, I ordered my i7 one on the 27th haven't heard a word since and since i live in ore-gun i figured it wouldn't take long to ship:(... but they cant even process it...

We have three Apple Stores in Hawaii, and I called each of them. 2 of the stores claims that they will receive the i7's "Early August". The other claims they won't be receiving it and will only be sold through online. I did call before when they had the previous models and the stores did have the i7s in stock. Can anyone call there local Apple Store and ask if they will receive it? Thanks. I plan to purchase in the store rather then online.

I know for a fact that in NYC the soho, chelsea and 5th ave store always stocked then old i7 and I think the staten island one as well. I would think that they would do the same with the new model.
