Be easy. I don't generally consider picking up from the Apple store but online orders have moved to almost a month out.

Would pick up an AIR or PRO today if they carried the right configuration.

If you want the 8GB models it seems like you can pick one up today.

Move to 16GB and the only configurations that seem to be available are 1TB storage models.

Is this generally how the Apple Store stocks things? Pretty much only the base or high-end configurations?

They don't tend to stock "configurations" at all, apart from an "ultimate" configuration that's maxed out or close to it.

Aside from that they stock the standard SKUs. Since they don't sell a standard configuration with 16GB of RAM, you'll need to order online. Or pony up for the "ultimate" config with 1TB SSD.

yeah stock is usually like that for the new macbooks, i dont think you have to worry too much about supply in the coming weeks as most people arent running out to buy a model 1 of apple tech

What we see now is fairly typical for long term in-stock choices. I wouldn't anticipate much difference in the future vs now.

Thanks, everyone. It seems my only choice for going with a 16GB/512 configuration is mail-ordering.

Appreciate the help.

It appears the only in store 16gb ram configs (for both MBA and MBP) have 1tb SSDs. If you are willing to jump to 1tb from 512, you can get one today ;)

Typing this on my MBP 16/1tb I got yesterday. It's soooooo fast.

I have a Mini that is supposed to be delivered on Friday but I have decided to get an Air instead based on the reviews. I found a Mac store about an hour from my house that has the 16Gb 1Tb model in stock that I can pick up later today and will ship my mini back.

FWIW if you can stand to wait a couple days, consider returning the mini in-store when you pick up the 16/1T.

If they're still doing it like they used to, you can order today for pickup and just not go until Friday or Saturday.

Though I can also understand not having the patience to do that... :D

I had thought about that also but as you observed, it takes patience to wait when I have the time to get the new Laptop tonight. It's really not a huge issue to return the Mini via mail since I just print the Fedex Label and drop it off at the Fedex store 5 minutes from my house.

I think there will be more powerful minis out within the year. I am waiting for one with more memory.
