Hi

I am seriously thinking about getting AppleCare for the first time. I have had acs since MacPlus and never got it before. But seeing that it is possible to get it for MBA for less than $200 it seems worth it.
however the one thing that would definitely push me in this direction is if it would cover a battery replacement?

Will it?

Thanks

Batteries are not covered by warranty, except in the case of manufacturing defects.

Apple Limited Warranty:
This warranty does not apply:
(f) to consumable parts, such as batteries, unless damage has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship;

AppleCare Protection Plan:
b. Limitations. The Plan does not cover:
(ix) Consumable parts, such as batteries, except in respect of battery coverage under APP for iPod or unless failure has occurred due to a defect in materials and workmanship;

If for nothing else get the AppleCare for the hinges. Granted, Apple doesn't cover the hinges (because they are lame a**holes and refuse to admit there is a problem)... but you'll be more likely to get spared the $800 of a new screen (hinges are part of the screen) if you shell out for AppleCare.

EDIT: Let me clarify: The MBA Gen 1 has a major issue with the hinges breaking which has been well documented all over the internet, and even on my blog (jerembuff.com). That is what I am referring to above.

You can buy AppleCare on eBay for around $110. At that price, it's a no brainer. One broken item and it pays for itself. For every dollar I have spent, I have saved $3 or more.

Agreed. Buy it off ebay for that price. it's fine and legitimate apple 3 year care. Covering batteries would be awesome, but its just not practical from both standpoints.
