I am confused with unlocking the iPhone. Will the current iPhones, say the ones I were to buy at an applestore today, are able to be unlocked and used with t-mobile? Thanks again and sorry for such a simple question

According to Engadget, unlockers have even already broken version 2.0, ahead of its release.
