Will dragging a photo/video out of Photos results in any quality degradation?

I use iCloud Photo Library to get photos and videos from my iPhone to my Mac into the Photos program. From there, I want to drag the photos I like to a separate drive to archive them and later import them into Lightroom, I then delete the photos I do not want to keep.

Does anyone know if simply dragging the photos and videos out of the program results in any compression/degradation to the photos/videos?

If you drag an image out of Photos, it makes a JPEG. In my experience it's more compressed (i.e. different file size) than say the original iPhone image. Whether there's a noticeable quality difference, I can't say. If you use File>Export... however, you can export the originals. So why not just use that?

Also, you could go into the Photos Library and just copy out the images from the Masters folder.

Or you could try using Automator to make it easier. The workflow would be an action to Get Album by Name, using the "Last Import" album. Then an action to Export Media Items. That would put the recent import out in Pictures in a dated folder.

Or just use Lr to import directly from the iPhone when the iPhone is mounted, or via Lightroom Mobile.

2. How do you use Lightroom Mobile to import the photos from the iPhone? Is there an option to do this?
