Will G5's be coming down in price?

After the previous thread, I have been convinced to buy a G5 for my fiance. Then I looked at the price!

So where's the best spot to buy a used / refurb model? I looked at Apple's refurb's, and they seem awfully pricey for a refurb. I'm too used to PC prices devaluing constantly.

So I have glanced around on Ebay and the prices for a decent G5 seem to vary from $1200 on up. Has anybody here bought from Apple's refurbished center, and is that the best place to go? How good are they at covering defects, problems, etc.? Just looking for some experiences on this.

Apple's refurbs are in perfect condition. There are no defects at all with any of my purchases of it and i have bought over 20 products!!

So would you say it's worth the extra couple hundred dollars premium over e-bay for example?

you cant be serious.

cmon, one is a company who made the machine and brought it back up to working condition.

the other is some person selling their machine to you, no warranties implied. And there is always the possibility of getting ripped off.

But I personally would buy from eBay, but im very careful in my research and bidding when it comes to expensive stuff.

if you are not that antsy, wait for the MacPros to come out and replace the G5, then other than a quad, they wont be worth spit to most people.

I've looked at buying via eBay, but never liked the 'risk' of loosing my money. I'd buy an Apple refurb without any concern.

Refurb'd P-Mac G5's were posted on Apple's Canadian site yesterday, this is the first time for 6-months, very tempting, but I feel there may be an announcement at least, as the P-Mac is the last of the range to be switched to Intel.
